someone who's open and honest. I would say sense of humor. Someone who makes me laugh. - Has to be really funny. Any other ones? - Uh, italian.
So, it seems like nobody out here is looking for a jerk or a meanie, but you always hear that women are attracted to bad boys. Let's get to the bottom of that.
Well, hey Yessica. Oh, hi. - I was just out on the street talking to a bunch of women, asking them what they look for in a significant other.
You know, I've always heard they prefer jerks, bad boys, no-good niks, but they actually kinda disagreed with me on that. - It's interesting you say that, I just read a study that said that women are actually attracted to angsty guys
more than smiley guys. - Huh. - Do I even need to ask? Okay, I'll ask. Are you gonna test this? - I'm gonna test it right now.
So, to see if women, in fact, do prefer a man with resting bitch-face, I enlisted the help of Buzz Feed's heartthrob, Eugene. We had a mini photo session where I snapped some happy pics and some moody pics, then we headed to the streets to see
which Eugene women preferred. I have two pictures here, I have a picture of smiley Eugene and I have a picture of moody Eugene, which one do you prefer? - Smiley Eugene.
Moody Eugene. Moody Eugene. - I like smiley Eugene. - I like the moody one. - I'm going smiley Eugene because look at those white teeth.
Moody all the way. - Moody, okay. Why? - Uh, he's sexier. - Sexy man. Unsurprisingly, women liked Eugene both ways,
happy and sad. I mean, how could you hate a face like this? So, did science lie to me? Do women not prefer a tortured soul? I suspected I didn't have the whole story, so I went back out to the streets
to ask women to describe each photo. Give an adjective to describe the top photo, what would it be? - Happy. - Leaning toward friendly. - Friendly, okay, cool.
He's very friendly. Friendly. More approachable. Cool. And then the bottom one? What's like the first word that you think of?
Serious. Yeah, I'd say sexy. He looks very He looks very manly. Yeah Very confident.
Edgy. Edgy? Sexier. Hmm, now this is very interesting. While women like both of the photos of Eugene, smiley Eugene was described as someone to introduce
to your parents with terms like nice and happy. Moody Eugene was often described sexually with words like sexy and edgy.Why do many women think of moody as sexy? Well, one study theorized that looking serious may signal to heterosexual women that
a man is competent and able. Look at steamy romance books and movie posters and you can see this science being played out. Luckily, what people find sexy at first sight isn't always what we look for in long-term relationships.
The bad boy may seem hotter at first, but maybe he's not in the long run. It's interesting that cultural norms have a huge influence on us and we don't even know it. - (scoffs) I guess that's interesting, (scoffs). - Shane, are you doing this for the ladies?
